PriceCart

How it works

You paste your list. PriceCart finds each item at four grocery stores in Verdun, compares prices per kilo, litre or item, and gives you three ways to do your shopping.

1. Your list

One item per line, up to 30 lines. Write the way you normally do, in English or French: "2% milk", "2 lb ground beef" or a line copied from a recipe.

A line with several items, like "salt and pepper", is split and each item is looked up on its own. The results group them under the line you wrote.

2. The right product at each store

Every week we collect the prices shown online for one location of Maxi, Metro, Provigo and Super C in Verdun.

For each line, our code picks a few possible products at each store. An AI model then answers a single closed question: "is this the item?". It never sets a price or adds up a total: every amount comes from the code.

Unless you say otherwise, we take the plain version: 2% milk, not lactose-free; plain chicken, not marinated. Write "organic", "lactose-free" or "marinated" if that's what you want.

When no product really matches, the line stays empty. A missing line beats a wrong product.

3. Unit price

A 675 g pack and a 600 g pack can't be compared on the shelf tag. So we compare the price per kilo, litre or item, preferring the pack size closest to the one you'd usually buy.

The results show both: what you pay at the till and, next to it, the unit price.

4. Three options

One store: your whole list in one place, at the store that has the most of it for the least.

Two stores: the best pair of stores, when a second stop is worth it.

Cheapest: the lowest total, however many stores. It never costs more than the other two options for the same items.

A saving is shown only against a real alternative, never against an average.

5. Good to know

Prices are from the last collection, shown above the results. In-store prices can change, and another location can have different prices.

Items sold by weight, like bananas or meat, are marked "estimated price": the price shown is for a typical pack, and the exact amount is set at the till.

PriceCart is independent. It isn't affiliated with any of the stores it compares.
