Frequently asked questions
The questions we're asked most often.
Is it really free?
Yes, and with no account. PriceCart will be paid for by ads, clearly labelled and placed around the results. Ads never change the order of products or the options shown: the cheapest stays the cheapest.
Which stores are compared?
Maxi, Metro, Provigo and Super C, one location of each in Verdun, Montréal. Another location of the same chain can have different prices.
Are the prices current?
They're collected every week from the stores' websites. Each store's collection date is shown with the results. In-store prices can change between collections.
Why doesn't an item on my list show up?
Either none of the four stores sells it online, or we couldn't find a product that really matches. Rather than guess, we leave the line empty. Try simpler words, like "greek yogurt" instead of a brand.
In a one- or two-store option, a line can also be missing because those stores don't carry it. It's still shown, with the reason.
What does "estimated price" mean?
The item is sold by weight. The price shown is for a typical pack (a few bananas, a tray of chicken breasts); the exact amount is set at the till and can vary a little.
Why the plain version of an item?
For "milk", most people want regular milk, not lactose-free or chocolate, even when it costs less. If you want a specific version, write it: "lactose-free milk", "organic chicken".
Can I write my list in French?
Yes. French and English both work, and you can mix them in the same list.
Do you keep my list?
We don't keep your list as such and nothing links it to you: no account, no name, no email. Each line's text is kept on its own, to answer faster next time. The details are in the privacy policy.
Is PriceCart affiliated with the stores?
No. PriceCart is independent and isn't sponsored or endorsed by Maxi, Metro, Provigo or Super C. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners.
How do I report a mistake?
Write to us at [email protected] with the line you typed and the product shown. Every report helps us fix matches.
